Practices of attaining a Wakeful state of Seeing the Prophet peace be upon him and using Salawat Azeemiyyah

Practices of attaining a Wakeful State of Seeing the Prophet peace be upon him. This is really worth reading.

Practices of attaining a Wakeful state of Seeing the Prophet peace be upon him and  using Salawat Azeemiyyah.

Practice of (Muraqabah-visualization) during salawat is emphasised by Sidi Abd al-Karim al-Jili (qaddas Allahu sirru) Vision of the Prophet might be attained through constant salawat over the Prophet  peace be upon him from Ibn Arabi.

While, Sidi Ahmad Imad ad-Din al-Wasit Shadhili (qaddas Allahu sirru) emphasized attaching oneself to the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) ruhani -Spiritual presence and reciting the Salawat  “as if you were in his presence seeing him…” Sidi Abd al-Karim al-Jili (qaddas Allahu sirru) emphasized this aspect of (Muraqabah-visualization),

the object of which was “for a real vision to replace a synthetic one, for the cultivated visualization of the Prophet peace be upon him to become the actual, waking vision of the Prophet peace be upon him, ru’yat al-nabi yaqzatan”

The process of Practice of (Muraqabah-visualization) of  Prophet peace be upon him "Continuously call to mind his image… If you have seen him in your sleep, call that image to mind. If you have not, bless him, and in your dhikr imagine yourself with him in his life. He hears you and sees you whenever you mention him…

If you cannot do this and you have visited his tomb, recall its image in your mind. Whenever you do dhikr or bless him, be as if you were standing at his tomb, in all honor and respect… If you have not visited his tomb, continue to bless him, and imagine him hearing you."

Using Sidi Ahmad Ibn Idris's Salawat Azeemiyyah for a Wakeful state of Seeing the Prophet peace be upon him, he uses the word ijma’ with both its meanings in mind: allow me to meet him, and unite me with him, and join me to/with him [the Prophet peace be upon him],

Just as You joined the Ruh with the nafs, Outwardly (zaahiran) and inwardly (baatinan), in wakefulness and in sleep…. meaning In (this world) before the next in'shallah; see Salawat Azeemiyyah for link in comments.

My notes: The secret is visualisation and focus from the heart by making a Niyyah and read salawat with love and feeling that love and Nur light enter ones heart and through deep slow breathing in an empty room.

One may focus on the green dome, or the blessed Sandal Nalayin, or the blessing birth mark on the shoulder, or simply read the meanings of the salawat and feel and allow it to cover your soul and heart, and be wrapped as if your with him (peace be upon him) in the cave like Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (qaddas Allahu sirru), or as if like the Baby Sayyiduna Ali (qaddas Allahu sirru) who only gazed at his vision and blessed face.

Further indication is also given in a beautiful book of Salawat called, 'The Muhammadan Treasures', by Muhammad Muntasir Ahmad Hamid al-Halwani published by Sakinapublishing.com link here The Muhammdan Treasures.

There many other Salawats that Shadhili masters have mentioned and like Salawat al-Fatihi 1000 times or more morning and in the evening.

These Salawats will open Spiritual Openings or vision of the eye of the Heart.
1. Salawat al-Fatihi.
2. Salawat Azeemiyyah.
3. Salawat Nariyah.
4. Salawat ibn Mashish.
5. Salawat Kubra. this is heavy.
6. Khusus Shaykh Nazim.
7. Salawat from Shaykh Abdul Ghani bin Salah al Ja'fari.
8. Asr Salawat of Friday.
9. Salawat Akbar.
10. Salawat Jawhartul Asrar Rifai
11. Salawat Kibrit Al-Ahmar Jilani.

The Qadir Sultan al Awilya Shaykh Abdal Qadir Jilani (qaddas Allahu sirru) talks salawat about for wakeful vision too. And recently Naqshbandi Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Haqqani (qaddas Allahu sirru) has mentioned Salawats to help with wakeful vision Yaqadhan as well.

(Note this was posted on my facebook in July 2014)

Also please have a read of post 'Seven mountains a Salik must conquer in the quest towards his goal'. Which talks about Salawat Azeemiyyah too.

The Great Merits of Salawat Azeemiyya reading it once equals 1 Million Dalai'l al-Khayrat and much more in weight than Salawat al-Fatihi.

English meaning of Salawat Azeemiyya: O Allah, I ask by the Magnificent Light of Your Face, Which filled pillars of the Majestic Divine Throne, and by it are upheld the worlds of Allah, the Immense.

To send blessings upon our Master Muhammad of magnificent worth, and upon the family of the Prophet of Allah, the exalted, as much as the greatness of the Essence of Allah, the Great. In every glance and in every breath, as numerous as that is contained within the Knowledge of Allah, the Great.

A prayer that is perpetual in the perpetuity of Allah, al Azim. In glorification of your worth, O our Master Muhammad, O you of the most noble nature, and send peace upon him and his family just as much, and join him with me, just as You joined the soul with the nafs, outwardly and inwardly, in wakefulness and in sleep.

And make him, O Lord, a soul for my body in every aspect. In the here and now, before the next world to come, O the Magnificent One.

Salawat Azeemiyya;
Allahumma inni as’aluka bi-nuri wajhillahil ‛Azim. Alladhi mala’a arkana ‛arshillahil ‛Azim, wa qamat bihi ‛awalimullahil ‛Azim,

=======
Ijaza for all to read Salawat Azeemiyya from Shaykh Salih al-Ja'fari (qaddas Allahu Sirru) who says:

"And I give ijaza to all the brothers from the Idrisi tariqa and from others, from the East to the West of the world, in this Salaat Azeemiyya, in which the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave me ijaza.

And likewise I give them ijaza in the First Salaat, which the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) heard from me, and like wise I give them ijaza with the rest of the salawat, which the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave me ijaza in by saying:

“With it and with other than it.”

And I make my sanad in that the Messenger of Allah, (ﷺ). And I have great hope that everyone who hears these words of mine, and turns with his heart and body toward these salawat, and recites them regularly with love and belief, that he will see him (ﷺ), in sleep and in the waking. And nothing stands between me and the doubters except trying."

Seven mountains a Salik must conquer in the quest towards his goal

Taken from a a contemporary Ba'alawi Shaykh, Abdul Aziz in a lecture

The key points with some extra notes from me of this article are below by me (Sajad Ali) (read the whole article too)...

Begin studies by mastering tasawwuf ibadah from classic text Minhajul Abidin of Imam Ghazali the book is in English and English with full YouTube video with Imam Khalid too.

Always keep your wudhu' (ablution) and recite salawat continuously especially Salawat 'Azmiyyah very powerful and heavy.
The reason is, because a request in the Salawat of wakefulness-(yaqadha) is asked and its rewards is Salawat Azeemiyya outweighs the Dalai'l al-Khayrat 20,000 times and more.

This particular salawat carries a lot of weight as it would take you to the presence of Rasulullah peace be upon him.
Salawat 'Azmiyyah is 1 Million Equals Dalai'l al-Khayrat.
Have Husn al-adhaan of Allah - Good Opinion of Allah and avoid having (Su' al-adhaan negative impression) about your Lord, which means your Qadr-destiny and not complaining as it will constricts your Rizq-provision or give you illness and sicknesses.

This is Physical and Spiritual Sicknesses thus you are Block from Allah.
The Laziness: I think most of you are still murid, not salik. I say that because you cannot even find the time to make zikr Allah. When you are Laziness with Allah, Allah doesn't waste His time with you.
You must practise tarbiyyah (guidance) and having Adaab, this is found in Suhba Companionship! of Others to keep good Company of Good People.
A contemporary Ba'alawi Shaykh, Abdul Aziz in a lecture recently touched upon the subject matter of salik and murid, and a selective part is quoted here:

When you tight your Tie that "black sheep" - your tongue and Mind and Thoughts of, negative thoughts words and typing of others, don't judge, but judge only yourself, when you hold Firm the Tasbeeh your soul is automatically pulled towards remember Dhikr of Allah to hold tight the Rope of Allah, the Sufi Rope of Allah is the Tasbeeh!

End of Sajad Ali notes

The words used are malay, riak (pride), in arabic its Kibr, and Marifa.
====================
Seven mountains a Salik must conquer in the quest towards his goal.

(There are) 7 aqabahs or mountains that a salik (seeker) must conquer in the quest towards his goal - aqabah tawbah, aqabah awa'id, aqabah awarid, aqabah bawa'ith, aqabah bawadih and aqabah al-hamd wa-shukr.

He will attain the true degree of sincerity (ikhlas) and his worship would become pure. He will be blessed with 'ilm ladunni, the highest kind of knowledge direct from His Presence because his heart is pure. He harbors hope solely in His Lord. He fears none except Allah. He longs and love only Allah.

These aqabahs are like great mountains to be conquered only with huge efforts. A salik is one who is focused in his journey towards Allah. He leaves all ugly behaviours in preference for good morals.

He is one who receives guidance from a guru who is murabbi (one who teaches). As a salik he would begin his studies mastering tasawwuf ibadah (gnostic worship) from classic kitab such as Minhajul Abidin.

He is wary of pitfalls on the path caused by illnesses of the heart such as riak (pride) and ujub (self glorification). His knowledge would increase as would his gnosis (makrifah).

If you but know, He will in fact raise your maqam after each and every tests. If you behave in a positive manner based on your understanding of this branch of knowledge He will grant you more knowledge that is beyond your imagination.

Wat taqullah wa yu'al limukumullah means one must first have iman (faith) before taqwa (God-fearing). Without taqwa one will not be granted ilm asrar or the secret knowledge.

Always keep your wudhu' (ablution) and recite salawat continuously especially Salawat Azeemiyyah. (see below for note on Salawat Azeemiyyah)

This particular salawat carries a lot of weight as it would take you to the presence of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallim So do not be careless about how you spend your time.

Prove your taqwa. Prove yourself with a credible faith. By having a pure faith, taqwa, and sincerity, Allah will grant you makrifah (gnosis).
It is important that you avoid having negative impression about your Lord. Just because He constricts your provision or give you illness, you start having ill feelings about your fate. If indeed you have makrifah you will not be restless, you will be calm and say Alhamdulillah regardless of your conditions.

I think most of you are still murid, not salik.
If you want to know what karamah is, look at the degree of your servitude. Check yourself, see how obedient you are. Do you always keep your wudhu' (Islamic way of baptism with water)?

I say that because you cannot even find the time to make zikr Allah. You are suffering from sickness typical of a murid.

You gather knowledge but you do not practise what you know. You must understand that husnul Islam, the best of Islam is one who leaves all that are worthless or unbeneficial to him. So go back to Allah.

Become a salik. Be sure to get tarbiyyah (guidance) from a guru who is himself a jazbah and a salik.
You must practise what you know because that is a pre-requisite for you to attain real makrifah.
If you truly love Allah, you will appreciate your time. You will not want to waste it. You will occupy yourself worshipping Him.

He says: wa'alam nahu min ladun na ilma - "We teach him (he who practises what he knows) with one 'ilm (knowledge)", and that is called ilm' hal. You will know this when you reach this maqam.
You could do istighfar, salawat and zikr La ila ha illAllah... Do this morning and night until they become more tasty than the best food that you have eaten in this world. Make them your preferred food. Clean, purify your heart so that nothing is there, save Allah.

Do you make an effort to tie that "black sheep" - your tongue? You can do that by holding a tasbeeh so that you would automatically remember to make zikr.

It is not good enough to be a murid. You must be a salik... It is a waste of time to just be a murid.
Allah is the ultimate guide who could bring us to goodness.

Please by all means become a salik. Remove all traces of mazmumah (bad qualities) from yourself and replace them with sifat mahmudah (good attributes).
When you find one and do as told, you will attain nafs radhiah. You are now at mutmainnah or mulhimmah where you get inspired to do good and regret your wrong doings.

But go find a guru tarbiyyah (one who will train you) who could prescribe you with what zikr, what salawat and what istighfar to do.
You must strive above this level. There are three practises you could do if you cannot find guru murabbi.
Wallahu a'lam
